Is Jesus Calling You? 27/11/24

It’s our first week back after completing the Christianity Explored course and it felt a little strange but good as we went back to our normal Hope Central set up. It was a real struggle for some of the leaders this week due to ongoing illnesses and fatigue but we continue to resist the evil one in Christ Jesus knowing he is a defeated foe [James 4:7]. So, we gathered together and encouraged each other in prayer as the Holy Spirit lead.

As is our custom we kicked off with a time of sharing Tests & Testimonies, which as always is such encouraging time. There was a beautiful testimony of an encounter over an offer of a free sofa and how that lead to the giver receiving Christ. Someone else shared how that they had had a few recent meetings with an authority figure who was not a Christian. That they had prayed before each meeting and found that they had unexpectedly received encouragement from that person to pursue their faith, which was just what they needed to hear. What a beautiful image of Jesus’s love for us, He will use any means to save us and He will use any means to talk to us when we need Him.

We then moved into a time of worship where a picture was shared of a sheep trapped in bramble and the harder it tried to escape the tighter the bramble became, then Jesus noticed this and left all the other sheep in His pen to help. Jesus said to the sheep “stop struggling and trying to free yourself from the snares of this world in your own strength, surrender to me and I will set you free” The sheep relaxed and surrendered, then Jesus gently set it free and it joined the pen with the others. We then played I Surrender and there was a real sense of freedom in the room.

We then introduced our guest speaker who shared their testimony and how they had been called to serve Jesus. How Jesus’s had led them from a young age and kept them on the right path even when they had inadvertently strayed off it. That their journey had involved times of hardship, sacrifice and commitment, as well as joy and fulfilment. They encouraged us that there is nothing more profound and fulfilling than discovering your calling in Jesus. Once you have heard Him call you, nothing will be the same again, you will start the greatest adventure of your life. The speaker then addressed Hope Central and challenged them to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to them what their calling was. That there was no mistake that they were here for such a time as this, that there is a move of the Holy Spirit coming in this generation that will change everything, that they are the vanguard of those who will lead in this revival and disciple those who respond to it, of which there will many.

We then remembered Jesus by sharing The Lord’s Supper together with the bread and the wine at the Centre of Hope Central with everyone gathering around it in a circle, as we passed the bread and wine to each other ‘Thank you Jesus”

Thank you, Jesus, for another great night at Hope Central, You will build Your church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it…
