Hi everyone I can’t believe it’s been two months since we last posted..! “So Sorry”
To bring you up to date: we gathered on 10th July for a time of Soaking and prayer, during which a member of HC who had returned from Egypt for the summer gave a testimony on how they had been called to that place, they shared how our Lord had guided and prompted them through the power of His Holy Spirit. This was such a powerful and encouraging time; Then on 17th July we gathered for a presentation from two members of the Paris Olympic Mission Team which was an inspiration and blessing to us all; On 24th July we had our last official gathering which was a social evening at the Hope Centre before pausing for a summer break.
It has been so encouraging to see the community continue to come together over the summer break and we were especially touched when we gathered to remember the passing of our dear friend Aaron on 22nd August at the Foresters Public House
So, it was so good to be back together this week after pausing Hope Central throughout August.
This week we were joined by some of the team from Myriad which is a group that have been meeting regularly at All Saints Woodford Wells to support new ministries in our local area to follow the call of Jesus. It was so good to have them with us and to take the opportunity to pray over them as they continue to pour out to others.
This year we feel like Jesus is calling us to pursue him without holding back. In her talk, Hannah shared a picture that God had given over Hope Central of a fire hovering above HC as we meet and a sense that God was saying that it is so easy to rest and stay in the beautiful friendships that he has formed through HC but actually we are called to so much more than that. The sense we have for this (and we would really value your on-going prayer into it) is that it is the time for HC to keep pursuing Jesus until we are all filled with an all-consuming fire. No one left behind. Until this fire that is hovering above us overtakes us and fills us with a burning love and passion for him, an all-consuming fire which means our hearts are set on him and him alone. That we won’t settle for ok or good enough. That we would pursue Jesus and what he has for our lives so that we can pour out his love and grace to others.
We feel Jesus is saying ‘pursue me, follow me, abide in me’.
We looked at Matthew 6 v 1-6 and 16-18 and explored what we should be doing in ‘The Secret Place’ – behind closed doors without any eyes looking at us so that we are building the foundations of our relationships with Jesus with no other motives other than to be with him, learn about him and invest into him. Together we explored how we need to spend time with Jesus, spend time with others who love him and spend time practising his way – becoming more like him.
As we start our third year (how did that come around so quickly?!) we would love you to continue to draw alongside us in prayer, particularly in the following ways:
1. That the community of Hope Central would be overwhelmed with an outpouring of Jesus’ love and grace – that we would be filled with the fire of Jesus so that when we leave our gatherings each week we would go out into our workplaces, homes and relationships leaking Jesus.
2. That we would experience a powerful move of the Holy Spirit which changes things – that challenges the status quo, which moves us into the uncomfortable and which convicts us about the important things in our lives.
3. That we would be a community of people so hungry for the presence of Jesus that we would hold nothing back.
Thank you, Jesus, for another great night at Hope Central, You will build Your church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it…
Thank you Taste & See for your continuing prayer support please continue to do so it is vital
When we Pray
There is a sound that changes things
The sound of His people on their knees
Oh wake up you slumbering
It’s time to worship Him
And when Jesus moves
And when we pray
Where stood a wall now stands a way
Where every promise is Amen
And when Jesus moves
Make no mistake
The bowels of hell begin to shake
All hail the Lord all hail the King
(From – Awake my soul – Hillsong)
Can you hear those dry bones RATLING….
