Eleven of us gathered together this week and we opened with the “Joy of the Lord is your Strength”. We explained that in a biblical context and for those who have accepted Jesus as their saviour, this is to rejoice in a place of safety, protection and refuge for our soul, which may not reflect how we are feeling as we walking through a tough situation but as we are reborn of the spirit we are anchored to Jesus, who guards our hearts and minds, so it could be said that “The Joy of knowing the Lord is our Strength”
We followed this with a time of testimony and we were greatly encouraged as one of our non -Christians testified that they believed they had been healed through prayer. Hannah then led us in a prayer from a book that Jesus had laid on her heart, which lead into a time of worship. A picture was shared about Jesus calling someone to Him but they were hesitating and pulling back but He was saying just come to me as you are, it really is that simple.
We then had a talk on the Tower of Babel as part of our continuing series of classic bible stories. This led us to reflect upon the bigger picture as we looked back to the beginning of things, our constant desire to be like God, Gods great love for us, our own heart attitudes and how this continuing attitude of promotion of self can still be seen in us building power structures today. We encouraged everyone not to buy into this ideal of self and to take time to step back each day and reset, which led into a good time of discussion.
“Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will”
We then asked how everyone was feeling and how they were processing their grief of the loss of Aaron, which led to another call to commit in light of his sudden call home.
We closed in prayer and were overjoyed when one of community accepted Jesus as their saviour
Thank you, Jesus for another blessed Hope Central
This weeks scripture from a member of “Taste & See” – John 17:20-24
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
