17/05/23 “Surrender”

Hope Central had quite a relaxed feel this week and we had a member of our old Lifegroup (Candy) visit us which was great.

As usual we kicked off with “Testimony Time” and we had quite few people share powerful testimonies, for example:

Someone shared that they were travelling to an important appointment in a cab but the traffic was terrible and the driver commented that there was no way that they were going make it on time, so the person prayed and each time they did the traffic started moving until they hit another jam, so they prayed again and the traffic started moving again, this happened several times, finally while they were praying they were forced on to an alternative route which was completely clear and they actually arrived at the appointment 5 mins early instead of 10 mins late as predicted on the Satnav. The cab driver could not believe it and commented that God must be on their side as he had heard them praying. The same thing happened on the way back, which the cab driver found astonishing, this all lead to a conversation on the power of prayer and the gospel message was shared.

Thank you Jesus another seed sown in the life of a non believer

Mandy did a great talk on surrender, with personnel testimony on how surrendering stuff to God is not giving up but a positive move. When we completely trust Him with a situation that we cannot change in our own strength or understanding, He can be trusted to lead us through. We may not get the conclusion we expect but it will be for our good. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

After worship we all prayed for Aaron who is back in hospital. There was a picture shared of a soldier dressed in blue, with white bands & black trousers and it was asked if this meant something to anyone, if so to come and see one of the team afterwards, as God had a word for that person.

Someone called one of the team over at the end and showed them a picture on their phone of a group of painted model soldiers that they had been working on, which was how the team member had seen the picture. That person received prayer and a word from God

 🙌  Thank you Jesus.

This weeks scripture from a member of Taste and See – 1 John 4:15-19

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us
